Observability and IT integrations

Clarity for your systems.

Tools to see what is happening in Zabbix, Grafana and other systems: metrics, logs and traces, with judgement and without noise.

What Obsernia is

An independent personal project by Pablo Lisaso. Observability tools for Zabbix, Grafana and other systems. No affiliation with those vendors.

Three signals

Observability is not another dashboard: it is being able to read the curve, the event and the path together.

Metrics Logs Traces
Metrics
Time series of system health: CPU, latency, error rate, saturation. They show state over time.
Logs
Timestamped events with context. They reconstruct what happened when a metric only says something drifted.
Traces
The path of a request across services. They link cause and effect when the problem does not live on a single host.

Zabbix

Infrastructure, triggers and inventory. Work with what Zabbix already observes, without replacing the server.

Grafana

Dashboards, alerts and data sources. Connect signals, do not duplicate another panel.

Other systems

Prometheus, Loki or OpenTelemetry when they add correlation. See the tools

Frequently asked questions

What is Obsernia?

Obsernia is a personal project by Pablo Lisaso: observability tools and IT integrations, focused on Zabbix, Grafana and other monitoring systems.

What is observability?

Observability is the ability to infer a system's internal state from its outputs: metrics, logs and traces. It helps move from a symptom to a cause with context, not only to know that something failed.

How is observability different from monitoring?

Monitoring watches known conditions. Observability adds correlation and context to investigate conditions that were not anticipated. They complement each other; one does not replace the other.

Is Obsernia affiliated with Zabbix or Grafana?

No. Obsernia is independent. Zabbix and Grafana are trademarks of their respective owners. This site does not represent Zabbix SIA or Grafana Labs.

Are any tools published?

The tools are documented here, each with its scope. The initial focus is Zabbix, Grafana and the observability that connects them.

Who is behind Obsernia?

Pablo Lisaso, an IT/OT operations and cybersecurity professional. Personal site: Pablo Lisaso.
